This is one of the rare times you will see me touting a sporting event, and it’s only because of the jam packed social calendar and fashion collaborations that I’m talking about sailing.  The Audi Hamilton Island Race Week held from 16th to 23rd of August is now in its 31st year and this year will see some cool collaborations with some of the fashion world’s most sought after.

With a social calendar set to draw almost as much attention as the race itself, this year, our favourite online shopping portal NET-A-PORTER.COM is on board to present a fashion showcase of coveted new season pieces.  Preceded by a fancy cocktail event, guests will also be invited for a sneak peek into a collection of new season must-have pieces curated by NET-A-PORTER.COM’s personal shopping team.

A new exhibition opening by Australian portrait artist and Audi ambassador Vincent Fantauzzo plus yummy delights courtesy of chefs Matt Moran, Kylie Kwong and Shannon Bennett will also be on offer for guests of the très chic yacht extravaganza.

There will be no shortage of champagne with many cocktail events scattered across the calendar, including an afternoon with Christopher Paspaley of Paspaley pearls where one lucky guest will take home an exquisite Lavalier bleu necklace.

A week on the Whitsundays being carted around in Audis and new season previews?  Sounds like my kind of sporting event.
