Why you should double cleanse your hair

If you’re anything like me then you have a multitude of hair products laying around the bathroom, each one reserved for a particular kind of hair day.

Hair frizzy AF? Time for some hair oil. Need some curl control? Pass the mousse. Hair parched after a day in the sun? Soak your strands in a moisturising mask. But after a while all of these products tend to build up in your hair. I know this is happening when my hair still doesn’t feel clean even fresh out of the shower.

This is when I will start double cleansing my hair.

The aim of double cleansing is to remove any leftover product residue and get right to the roots to make sure your scalp is free of any impurities. You’ll want to choose something really clarifying or cleansing like this Blackwood Bamboo Charcoal Shampoo. It’s rich with antioxidants which help draw out all the dirt, oil and build up at the scalp.

I would recommend using your clarifying shampoo first and really massaging this into the scalp. Follow up with a second round of cleansing with your typical shampoo to address any other hair concerns. I tend to repeat this process for the next 2 – 3 times I wash my hair to make sure everything is squeaky clean and then again intermittently once a month whenever the need arises.
